Gemius: The most popular forms of online shopping deliveries are the courier and Paczkomat

According to the latest Gemius report, Paczkomat is the second most popular form of online shopping delivery. However, the InPost Courier strengthened its third place position among Polish courier companies.

The E-Commerce in Poland 2018 Gemius Report in the eyes of the Internet users shows the growing share of Paczkomaty® as the second – after courier services – most commonly chosen form of delivery. 48 % of online buyers select Paczkomat® delivery, while 75 % choose the courier. There is also an increase in the percentage of people who, thanks to Paczkomaty® as one of delivery options, are motivated to shop – i.e. 55% (a year-on -year increase of 5 percentage points).

"Gemius Report brought another piece of good news for InPost. First of all, Paczkomat® is becoming a great alternative to courier deliveries – nearly half of online buyers use our fast and comfortable form of delivery. Secondly, the Internet users have given a strong signal for the Polish e-commerce – the lack of Paczkomat® deliveries on offer means that even 55% of online buyers may look for an alternative store offering such possibility" – said Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost. - "This result is even better considering that there are nearly 10 major courier companies and deliveries via Paczkomat® are offered only by InPost which belongs to the American equity fund Advent International".

InPost Courier maintained last year's third position among the most commonly chosen courier services in Poland. It stayed ahead of Pocztex (Poczta Polska) and world leaders such as GLS, UPS and FedEx. InPost courier services noted an increase by 4 percentage points as compared to 2017, which is a considerable achievement on such a competitive market.

The present year is very good for e-commerce. The Gemius Report has noted an increase in the number of positive opinions on online shopping – an interesting phenomenon is also an increase in the activity of groups so far more passive in this area, i.e. people over 50. The improvement of the perception of safety of online shopping and the convenience of it are consistent with the essence of online shopping deliveries via Paczkomat® InPost.

Advent International and InPost informed that they are going to invest as much as PLN 250 million in the infrastructure of parcel lockers and the development of courier services in 2018. The company has a network of more than 3,500 parcel lockers across Poland and another 1,000 will be built by the end of the year. In the period from January – May 2018 InPost delivered 30 million of packages- a year-on-year increase of 42.2 % – Paczkomaty® noted an increase by 41.2% and the InPost courier by 43.4%.
